Camp Calendar Week 1
We are super excited to kick off summer camp here at Coastal Day School on Monday, June 1st! Miss Veronnica has been working hard to find field trips that can accommodate our group!! We are looking forward to a fun week!! When we go to Ocean Isle, we will be playing in the sand, not swimming. We still have spaces available if you are interested.

Summer Camp Confirmed!
We hope you are all safe and well and in good spirits! What a crazy last two months it has been! We published our summer camp information a few days before closing, never imagining how much would change since then. We have been discussing what summer is going to look like for us at Coastal Day School, and while it is going to be very different from the norm, it is still going to be FUN!! We are making a lot of temporary changes to ensure our program is flexible and available to Leland parents, while working hard to keep our campers and staff safe! Here are some ways we plan to make that happen:
For starters, we will be reducing the number of campers we enroll in the first few weeks, and potentially throughout the summer. Without knowing what size groups will be allowed on field trips, and with added safety measures, it will be easier if our group size is smaller. As the summer goes on we may be able to increase our group sizes. We want to make sure we are complying with all recommendations by government officials and that we are doing everything we can to keep our kiddos and staff safe!
We also have updated our tuition contract and you are now able to register for whichever days you'd like. We understand that some parents will continue working from home, or have reduced schedules, so we want to be flexible to make sure we can serve families in the capacity that they need. We have a new copy of our contract for you --here--!
At this time, we do not know what field trips on our schedule will actually happen. We plan to post an update each Wednesday for the following week to let you know our schedule and what campers will need each day. Check back here or on our Facebook page to find out what we will be doing. Because of allowing campers to sign up daily without a minimum number of days each week, there will be a field trip fee for our large trips for those campers that are not signed up for at least 3 days that given week. We will do our best to offer fun trips every day!!!
As campers enter our building each morning, we will be taking their temperature with an infrared thermometer and they will need to wash their hands prior to going into a classroom. We are asking parents to either drop children off at the front door or lobby to keep even more germs from entering our classrooms. Any camper showing any signs of illness will need to be picked up immediately. Campers will be required to wash their hand frequently throughout the day. Our staff will be sanitizing and cleaning tables, toys, and equipment throughout the day. We will take disinfectant with us on field trips and we will also have a hand washing station in the back of our vans!
We are SO excited to see all our little friends and share a summer full of fun!!!

Summer Camp 2020

As always, the school year is flying by and we are in disbelief that summer will be here soon! We had our first summer camp staff meeting of the year last week and are already in planning mode! We are getting SO excited about hanging out with your kiddos all summer and looking forward to all the fun we will have!

We are getting SO excited about hanging out with your kiddos all summer and looking forward to all the fun we will have!
Our Summer Camp Program is for any rising Kindergarten student through Middle School. We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30am until 6pm. We offer a two-day (Tuesday and Thursday), three-day (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), and five-day option. All field trip fees are included in your weekly tuition! Some examples of field trips offered are Jungle Rapids Water Park, movies, parks, pools, bowling, Medieval Times, museums, and more!!! While at Coastal Day School, campers will enjoy fun activities such as crazy water games, silly dry games, arts and crafts, and tons more!!! We love seeing sweet friendships form and getting to see campers enjoy all the activities our staff has spent months planning.

If you are interested in registering your child for our summer camp, please click on the link above for registration forms. You are free to pick any weeks you want as well as pick the number of days you'd like each week (two-day option is Tuesday and Thursday, three-day option is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and we also have a five-day option-we only offer a daily option for select weeks as outlined in the tuition contract). We do not have a minimum on the number of weeks your child attends and you only pay for the weeks you register for!! Please keep in mind that once you have turned in a registration form, we cannot make changes to the dates you've registered for, and you will be required to pay for the dates reserved, regardless of attendance. We provide a quality program with a low student/teacher ratio, and awesome field trips that usually require prepayment (we've actually already paid for some of them), so when we hold a space for a child, it is important that we receive payment for that space in order to continue providing all the fun activities we do daily. We feel badly when plans change and parents are still expected to pay for the weeks they have reserved, but please understand that we cannot make any exceptions to this policy in order to be able to keep our camp open and functioning. If multiple parents were to ask each week to make changes to what they have reserved, it would severely affect our ability to continue to operate as it is very difficult to fill spaces last minute when parents have already made other plans for their children once our program is full. Thank you in advance for your understanding and support in this area. We know that it can be a struggle when funds are tight so please make sure to only reserve weeks you know you will need.
We really hope your child(ren) will be joining us for a fun-filled summer here at CDS! We are excited to see our returning campers and meet new families and provide them with a safe and exciting summer camp. I know how scary it can be sending your child off to camp, especially on field trips, but our staff takes our campers' safety very seriously and we work diligently to ensure your child is well taken care of. Our staff has been trained to obsessively count campers (I mean really OBSESSIVELY-we count in our sleep during the summer-true story 😆) and monitor their group very closely. We are so grateful for such an amazing staff that truly loves our campers!

As
a reminder, by completing this form, you are not guaranteed a space. This is
simply a request to enroll.
We will begin calling families at 10am this morning to gather more information. If your child receives a space, instructions will be emailed to you for how to proceed with the process and confirm your child's space. Deadlines for paperwork and the new student fee will be outlined in the email as well. If you miss a deadline, your space will be given to the next child on the list. No exceptions will be made. Emails have ended up in spam folders in the past so make sure to check there also.
If your child does not receive a space, they will automatically be placed on our waiting list. Don't give up hope if you are added to the waiting list! We have seen it move dramatically in the past due to changing family situations, moves, etc. It's still possible to receive a space before school starts or even after our school year has begun.
We will be working hard to process all the enrollment requests we receive but it is a time consuming task and may take us a few days to complete. Our office staff answering calls will not be able to confirm if you received a space or not. Every person that submits our enrollment form will receive a call from us by Friday, February 7, 2020. If you have not received a call from us by then, please contact us.

Open Enrollment starts Monday!
We are so excited to open enrollment on Monday (February 3, 2020) for new families for the 2020-2021 school year!! We loved meeting new friends at our Open House in January and are excited to have them join us for an exciting school year next year!!
We will post the link right here on our blog at 8am. All submissions will be time stamped and spaces will be given in the
order they are received. We are doing it a little different this year to
help our families with multiple children. The form will simply ask for
one parent's name, email address, and phone number (a picture example of the form is shown below). We will
begin calling families that morning to gather information about your
children and what number of days you are interested in. We
know it’s hard, but please refrain from calling to find out where you are on
the list. Without information from each family (children's ages/number of days), we will not be able to determine where you are on the list. Filling out the
form online does not guarantee a space in
our program. All spaces are first come, first serve and we will go in
the order
the submissions came in. Any child that does not receive a space in our
program
will be placed on our waiting list. Our hope is to get in touch with
everyone by the end of the week, but this route will be more time
consuming on our end, so please be patient with us as we tackle the
list. Please make sure you double check the phone number you've entered on the form before submitting it. Things like an incorrect phone number or a full voicemail box could prevent you from receiving a space. If you miss the call from us, please return the call as soon as
possible. We will have many names to get through and will need to move
on to the next person quickly. If we do not hear back from you within 24 hours, we will need to move on to the next person on the list.

2020-2021 Enrollment Information
2020!!! How did that happen?! I read something the other day that said the year 2000 was twenty years ago, which is funny, because so was 1980. It made me laugh because it really does feel that way! Time seems to be escaping us faster and faster these days and I need it to SLOW DOWN. It's is unbelievable to me that we are already starting enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year. The first few months of this school year have flown by. I'm in a three year old classroom this year, for the first time in YEARS, and I feel like we just got started! How can it be halfway over?!! I definitely will not be ready to say goodbye to my sweet class in five short months. But, regardless of how we feel, time is going to keep on moving on. So, alas, we must prepare.
If your family previously
attended Coastal Day School for an entire academic year and would like to
return (yay! so exciting!!), we will have a special enrollment time for your family starting
January 21, 2020. Just stop by any day that week (except Monday-we are closed)
between 10am and noon to drop off paperwork and the $150 new student fee. Here is a link to our handbook which includes all the
paperwork we need turned in.

We are so thankful to be planning another school year! What an honor it is to become part of so many families here in Leland as we partner together to teach and love our sweet students. We really do have the most amazing families and staff that encourages, supports, and loves us so well. Looking forward to year 14 and all the fun we will get to have!!
