Today we have reached our half way point of summer camp. We cannot believe that this summer is flying by so quickly. We have many friends going back to their year round school this week and we are feeling so sad that we won't get to spend our days with them. You see, this summer has been like no other here at Coastal Day School. It's hard to explain the difference, but in an effort to try, the friendships have been sweeter, the laughs have been bigger, and the silliness has been taken to a whole new level. These campers have made our staff laugh until they cry, have been the best behaved group we've ever had the pleasure of taking on field trips, and have had a blast over the last five weeks. We have had the honor of watching children overcome fears of heights and water, try things they never thought they would, and see their faces when they realize they are stronger and braver than they knew. We are so very grateful for the opportunity to hang out with these incredible kiddos and will treasure the memories we have made this summer, as we hope they do the same. Each summer is a bit stressful, as you quickly realize the magnitude of having 48 campers' lives in your hands as you cross state lines for field trips or apply sunscreen for the 3rd time at the pool and water park. We know it takes a great deal of trust to send your child off to camp each day, and we are thankful that you put your trust in us. Our staff is amazing and truly love these campers like they are family, and on each field trip, I find myself in awe of their commitment and diligence to keeping our campers safe. We are looking forward to our second half of the summer and all the fun we will get to have!
